Marine diesel by Australian region
The same engine fails differently depending on where it floats. Warm silty water kills heat exchangers; cold water and a long layup kill everything else. A tropical port and a Bass Strait port are not the same maintenance problem.
These pages cover what marine diesel ownership actually involves in each region: the fleet, the water, what comes through local workshops, when the trade has capacity, and where to go next.
How this fits with the rest of the site
Each regional page routes to the specific answers rather than trying to be all of them:
- Something is wrong → the symptom pages
- Who can fix it here → the mechanic directory for that region
- What it should cost → the cost guides
- Where to buy an engine here → the regional buying pages
If you already know which of those you need, go straight there. The regional pages are for the times you do not.
Coverage
All twenty-five Australian boating regions are covered, from the Coomera corridor to the Kimberley. Ten are the major metropolitan and industry centres; the other fifteen are the regional ports where the answers most often differ from the capitals — because the supply chain is thinner, the water is harder, or the fleet is commercial.
