Gabriel Machuret
I’m Gabriel, the creator of Marine Diesel Engine Australia andYouSail. I build useful websites around the life I want to live. Right now, that life is sailing.
Marketing and publishing
My background is marketing. I have spent more than a decade in search engine optimisation and app store optimisation, and I was one of the first people to treat ASO as its own discipline. In 2013, I launched the first ASO course on Udemy, then wrote The ASO Bible and ASO Ninja. More than 10,000 students have been through my courses.
Along the way I ran a marketing agency and worked with companies including Red Bull, Disney, EA Games, FreshBooks, PBS and Xerox. I have helped more than 500 developers and app companies get found, and spoken at conferences in London, Singapore, China and Thailand. I also acquired the ASO company Appmind, which was later acquired by Mobile Action, where I stayed on as a consultant and ambassador.
Not everything I write is about marketing. Zero Excuses is my book about living a beautiful life. The Lazy Bastard is a productivity guide for procrastinators.
Building around the life I want
I have a habit: I build websites around the life I want to live. When I worked as a diving instructor, I built diving websites. Now it is sailing.
My partner Kristy and I are working towards buying a yacht, moving aboard and sailing Australia and the Pacific. We are still learning, taking courses, spending time on boats and asking a lot of questions. That process has already produced a network of useful sailing projects, including Top Marinas, Sailing Schools, Sailing Courses, Sailing Clubs, Top Charters and Buy Sails.
Why Marine Diesel Engine Australia
Prepare for life aboard and engine questions arrive quickly. What does a warning sign mean? Which maintenance jobs belong on the calendar? How do two engines really compare? What should a repower quote include? The answers live in many different places and are often written for technicians rather than owners.
So I did what I know how to do: collect information, organise it around real questions and make it easier to use. Marine Diesel Engine Australia is not a substitute for a workshop manual or mechanic. It is a better starting point for understanding the issue and having a more informed conversation with the right professional.
What I am—and what I am not
I am not a marine mechanic, naval architect or expert sailor, and I have not worked on every engine described here. My expertise is research, digital publishing and making complex information easier to navigate. Technical claims should come from identifiable primary sources, and qualified review should be named rather than implied.
That distinction matters. Advice about an engine can be incomplete or wrong, including advice published here. Always check the manual for the exact model and installation, and use a qualified marine mechanic for diagnosis, safety-critical work and decisions that could damage the vessel or put people at risk.
